The sentencing for Deborah McKenzie and Sharice Sutherland-Kayseas, the last two people who were involved in the killing of Sheena Billette, has been adjourned until December 11, 2024.

On November 4, 2024, the defense attorneys had their turn to make their cases and contest for a sentence that is less then the recommended prosecutors recommended life sentence for McKenzie and Sutherland-Kayseas.

The Honorable Madame Zerr has adjourned her sentencing decision until December 11, 2024, at the Court of Kings Bench in Prince Albert.

The final sentencing comes nearly five years after Billette’s murder.

So far, four people have been charged in connection with the death of Sheena Billette which happened on December 23, 2019.

The two people who have received their sentences are Charlie Charles and Tesla Jane McKenzie.

Charlie Charles has been sentenced to 8 years, with time credited. 

Tesla Jane McKenzie was sentenced to just over four and a half years, with time credited.  

A fifth person was initially charged but her charges had been stayed by the judge.
