On December 6, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Prince Albert RCMP were making proactive patrols in the RM of Buckland in the Redwing area when they were flagged down by a concerned citizen who advised them of a vehicle driving in a dangerous manner.
Prince Albert RCMP located the vehicle on Highway #2, north of Prince Albert, and conducted a traffic stop.
As a result of investigation, one male was asked to exit the vehicle. When the male exited the vehicle, police observed a prohibited firearm on his person.
The male resisted arrest; however, officers were able to bring him safely into custody. A modified shotgun was seized at the scene.
21-year-old Patrick Ermine-Daniels from Montreal Lake Cree Nation is charged with:
- one count, carrying a concealed weapon
- one count, resist arrest
- one count, possession of a prohibited firearm in a motor vehicle
- one count, possession of a firearm when unauthorized
- one count, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number
- one count, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibited order
- two counts, fail to comply with release order condition
- one count, fail to comply with probation order
Patrick Ermine-Daniels appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court on December 9, 2024.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to the member of the public who brought this matter to the attention of RCMP, resulting in the seizure of an illegal firearm. This was an extremely dangerous situation, but thanks to the professionalism, high level of training and situational awareness of Prince Albert RCMP officers, this individual was safely apprehended,” said Sgt. Daniel Lozinski, the police officer in charge of operations at the Prince Albert RCMP detachment.
