The Canadian Sled Dog Challenge in La Ronge gets underway on Tuesday.
The event will start with 10-dog race beginning at Riese Park in La Ronge at 10 am.
The mushers will guide their teams all the way to Weyakwin and back over the next couple days with checkpoints along the way.
The race will then continue with the 8 and 6 team dog races tomorrow.
While last year, the mushers faced a lower than normal snow pack, this year race organizers say the snow conditions are great.
However, mushers will face an extreme cold warning as the temperature in La Ronge is expected to drop to as low as -36 tonight.
