In a social media post, Buckland Fire and Rescue stated that at just after 8 in the morning yesterday they received a call for a Motor Vehicle Collision on Sturgeon Lake First Nation.
While responding to the fire hall, firefighters were notified by Provincial Fire Dispatch that STARS had been launched to the scene and were requesting a landing zone to be set up. Four firefighters were then dispatched to the scene.
On arrival, Buckland Fire and Rescue stated that a vehicle jumped an approach and was launched over 100 feet into the forest.
At that time the patient was in the care of Parkland Ambulance Paramedics in the back of the unit in serious condition.
The crew then went to a nearby parking lot to find a landing zone for the STARS helicopter.
Shortly after, the patient was transferred from the ambulance to the helicopter and lifted to the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.
RCMP officers, Conservation Officers, and Sturgeon Lake Firefighters also assisted on the scene.
As of now there is no word on the patient’s condition.
