A Rise Air flight into northern Saskatchewan this week diverted to Stony Rapids due to an in-flight engine issue.

According to Rise Air, the incident happened on Monday morning on a SAAB 340b aircraft en-route to Fond du Lac from Saskatoon.

A Rise Air representative says crew on the aircraft had carried out a precautionary engine shut down on one of its engines.

The aircraft can safely fly on one engine and was subsequently diverted to Stony Rapids where it landed safely.

Rise Air says the crew followed proper procedures.

5 passengers and 3 crew were aboard the flight and no injuries were reported.

Rise Air says all passengers eventually made it to their planned destinations.

The airline says the incident has been reported to it’s own safety management system for further investigation.

The Transportation Safety Board and Transport Canada have been notified as well.
