A former deputy Prime Minister of Canada made a stop in La Ronge on Friday.

Chrystia Freeland visited the north to champion Liberal candidate Buckley Belanger for the Desnethe-Missinipi-Churchill River riding.

According to campaign officials, Freeland was able meet with Indigenous leaders and local non-profit organizations.

The current Transport and Internal Trade Minister spoke with MBC News during her trip.
