Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation (PBCN) and the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) are highlighting the importance of physical activity and cultural pride ahead of the 2025 Tony Cote First Nations Winter Games.
PBCN is the host nation of this year’s Winter Games and will welcome hundreds of First Nations athletes from across the province between April 18th and 24th as they compete in a variety of sporting events.
“Thanks to the extraordinary commitment and meticulous planning by Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation as our host nation, we are more prepared than ever to host a successful and memorable event,” said 3rd Vice Chief Fabian Head. “We will ensure that all our athletes have a memorable time, and can showcase their skills, and athleticism. The Tony Cote First Nations Winter Games represent a cornerstone of First Nation sports development in Saskatchewan, promoting physical activity, community connection, and cultural pride.”
“Sports and recreation are fundamental to the well-being of our communities. Through our partnership with FSIN, we’ve worked tirelessly to ensure these Games will celebrate our youth’s achievements while promoting healthy lifestyles and cultural connections. The Games will include Badminton, Basketball, Curling, Volleyball, Table Tennis and Hockey,” explained Peter A. Beatty, Chief of Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation.
The Tony Cote First Nations Winter Games 2025 will be held in Saskatoon, April 18-24 with opening ceremonies and Parade of Nations kicking off at 5:00pm at Prairieland Park.
