Christina Longjohn has been re-elected as Chief of Sturgeon lake First Nation after receiving a total of 447 votes. Rachel Moosehunter who was the only other candidate seeking the Chief position received 260 votes.
Councillors Frederick Felix, Bernard Moosehunter, Anita Parenteau, and Solomon Sanderson were also re-elected to their positions.
Newly elected councillors include Mark Daniels and Austin Naytowhow.
The First Nation stated that of the 2,236 eligible voters a total of 707 ballots were cast.

Sturgeon lake First Nation is set to hold it’s general election on March 31st.
Incumbent Chief, Christina Longjohn is seeking a second term running against Rachel Moosehunter.
There is a total of nine individuals running for a councillor position including incumbent councillors Frederick Felix, Bernard Moosehunter, Anita Parenteau, and Solomon Sanderson.
Advanced polls will be open in Saskatoon Saturday, March 29, and Prince Albert on Sunday, March 30 with election day taking place on the First Nation Monday, March 31.
Members will vote on one Chief and six councillor positions who will serve three year terms once elected.
