An organization that anonymously helps youth is looking at ways to better help Aboriginal young people.

The Kids Help Phone has partnered with the Native Canadian Centre to help its counsellors be more aware of issues facing Aboriginal youth.

Native Canadian Centre’s Youth Services Manager Springwater Hester-Meawassige says the project was driven by counsellors because they wanted a better understanding of their Aboriginal callers.

New, culturally-appropriate posters have also been developed.

Youth will be able to visit the Kids Help Phone’s website and vote on their two favourites, which will then be distributed to Aboriginal communities.

Voting on the posters begins next Tuesday on National Aboriginal Day.
