Saulteaux Immersion Camp Planned For The Weekend

A Saulteaux immersion camp is being held this weekend on the Muscowpetung First Nation.

Kameo Cappo says he can count the number of Saulteaux language speakers in his community on one hand, and he wanted to do something about it.

Cappo says he has taken Saulteaux language classes, but could not retain it.

He says the camp will have borders within which a person can only speak Saulteaux.

Cappo says the camp is open to anyone determined enough to learn the language — even if they have to rely on an English-Saulteaux dictionary.

The camp starts tomorrow and runs until Sunday.
