Three youths on the Cote First Nation are facing charges of cruelty to animals.

Kamsack RCMP detachment supervisor, Cpl. Kirk McDonald says, they are accused of beating five dogs to death on the reserve over the course of a week late last month.

The three boys, two 13-year-olds and a 14-year-old, will be appearing in Kamsack Youth Court — one on July 12th, the other two on August 16th.

All three have been released from custody.

A fourth boy is alleged to have been involved, but couldn’t be charged as a result of being under 12 years of age.

McDonald says the RCMP is grateful to First Nations peacekeepers and residents who helped solve the case.

The Mounties say the dogs belonged to residents of the reserve.
