Soccer Coach’s Pitch Pays Off

A young soccer coach made a last-ditch effort at the FSIN legislative assembly yesterday, and it paid off.

Cory Bugler from Red Pheasant is taking a group of young boys and girls to Europe to participate in soccer tournaments – one of which is the world’s largest.

He started the soccer teams in memory of a friend who died a couple years ago and didn’t have sports as a positive outlet.

The players managed to fundraise $108,000 for their trip, but were $28,000 short when Bugler approached the Assembly.

He was overwhelmed when tribal councils, bands, the FSIN and individuals raised around $34,000 for them, covering their costs.

Bugler and his players leave next Friday.
