FSIN Chief Not Happy with Panel Makeup

The Chief of the Federation isn’t happy with the makeup of a panel studying First Nations education.
The panel is made up of three experts from across the country who will study the schooling-model for on-reserve kids to find out what works and what doesn’t.
One of the experts is academic George Lafond of the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation.
Lonechild says he has nothing against Lafond personally, but he would have preferred to get representatives with expertise in Kindergarten to Grade 12 education.
Lonechild adds the FSIN has asked for the word “experts” to be struck from the panel’s name, and he doesn’t think it should be considered a national body if Saskatchewan doesn’t support it.
