A Liberal MP says the government needs to step on the pedal to fix drinking water conditions for First Nations.
Carolyn Bennett is the Aboriginal Affairs critic for her party.
She says a national assessment of water-systems on reserve found that 4.6 billion dollars was needed over the next 10 years to bring First Nations up to standard.
She says Ottawa is moving at a snail’s pace when urgency is needed.
Bennett says the government has tabled legislation without providing adequate resources so First Nations can fulfill them.
