A lawsuit has been filed against a vice-chief at the FSIN.

The action was launched by a former vice-president of the First Nations University.

Wes Stevenson is seeking damages and an apology from vice-chief Morley Watson.

He claims Watson wrote a letter to other chiefs alleging Stevenson was responsible for unfair hiring practises at the FNUC, that he also disregarded policy and participated in criminal activity at the school.

Stevenson claims Watson’s letter doesn’t mention that an extensive investigation found him innocent of wrong-doing at the University.

On June 9th Stevenson pleaded guilty in a Saskatoon courtroom to fraud.

He admitted he did not disclose monies he had received from the Federal government for a trip overseas.

However Stevenson says that had nothing to do with the school.

Watson wasn’t immediately available for comment.
