La Ronge Dealing With High Waters

The town of La Ronge continues to grapple with high water levels while other parts of the North are cleaning up after a big storm.
Mayor Thomas Sierzycki says water levels are approaching the all-time high of 1955.
He says several properties are being threatened by the situation so sandbagging efforts continue.
The mayor adds last weekend’s storm disrupted the power supply to the lift station but the workers managed to cope.
Meantime, Highways officials say water has been creeping onto the highway on the north side of the Montreal River Bridge.
However, at this point it is not on the deck.
Government repair crews are also dealing with the aftermath of the storm that chewed its way north of Big River to Wollaston Lake.
Duane McKay, a commissioner with the Ministry of Public Safety, says at least two campgrounds were hit hard by the storm while power was temporarily cut off in La Ronge and Wollaston.
McKay says the storm left a trail of downed trees in its wake, which impacted some power lines.
He says he knows generators are being brought in to Air Ronge to help back up the lift station there.
