Man Accused of Killing Son Released For Funeral

A man accused of accidentally killing his own son in a vehicle-pedestrian collision on the weekend has been released, so he can attend the funeral.

 

Forty-five-year-Melvin Swiftolfe appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court today.

 

The youth was killed while walking along a road near the Moosomin First Nation on Saturday.

 

Swiftwolfe faces charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death, Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, and Driving While Suspended.

 

He was released on an undertaking that includes not consuming any alcohol or drugs.

 

His next court appearance was set for September 21st.
