Birch Narrows Pursues Diamond Drilling

The Birch Narrows First Nation is getting into the diamond drilling business.

Yesterday, the band announced it has entered into a limited partnership with a northern drilling company.

Al Felix is the C.E.O. of Birch Narrows Dene Development.

He says the arrangement should help the band create jobs and contracts.

Felix says the limited partnership will be 51 percent owned by the band.

He says the company they’re working with, Lyncorp Drilling Services, primarily focuses on drilling for minerals.

He adds they are already out looking for contracts.
