RCMP say the remains of a six-year-old Sandy Bay boy who disappeared into the Churchill River almost two years ago have been recovered.
Travis Misponas was last seen playing with some other small children near the river on November 28th, 2009 — and it was believed he slipped into the river.
Neither local searchers nor an RCMP dive team were able to find his body.
However, RCMP are now reporting that human remains were discovered by local berry pickers on the shore of the river near Sandy Bay on August 15th.
Subsequent DNA testing has confirmed that the remains are those of Travis Misponas.
