Wednesday’s scorching temperatures broke many records for September 7th in the province’s north.

Among the communities recording new highs was La Ronge, which hit a high of 29.9 degrees Celsius — over two degrees warmer than the previous mark of 27.7 set in 1980.

Meanwhile, Buffalo Narrows hit an all-time best of 30.5, four degrees warmer than the old mark of 26.5 set in 2003.

Other northern communities recording highs include Collins Bay at 28.1 degrees — which is almost double the previous mark of 16.6 for yesterday’s date.

Southend was 30.7 degrees, well up from the old mark of 22.

Stony Rapids hit 26.8 degrees. The old mark was 22.7.

Uranium City recorded a high of 24.6 degrees. That was up five degrees from the old mark of 19.6 set in 1993.

In all, there were 14 communities in Saskatchewan that established new highs for yesterday’s date.

The oldest record broken was in Scott where the previous high was originally set in 1927.
