The provincial government has received assurance from the FSIN that program dollars were not used in a reported $650,000 severance package to former Chief Lonechild.
In a letter to the government from the FSIN, Interim Chief Morley Watson says “any funds received by the Province will not be used for a negotiated severance package approved by the Chiefs in Assembly.”
Watson goes on to state that “partnerships are not only based on trust but communication,” and that the FSIN hopes in the future that the province will deal more directly with concerns about the organization rather than going through the media.
