Carrot River RCMP have four men in custody after the windshield of a police vehicle was shot out this morning at Red Earth First Nation.

The incident was reported around 1:30.

Police say the officers involved returned fire and the Emergency Response Team was called in to deal with the standoff which lasted several hours.

The situation was resolved peacefully when the suspects turned themselves in around noon.

The RCMP received assistance from the Red Earth First Nation including the Vice Chief, Councillors and an Elder.

The suspects are 18 and 19-years-old and its not known what charges will be laid.
