Discussions over spending at the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority dominated the afternoon session of the FSIN assembly in Saskatoon.
Several chiefs took the floor to denounce the amount of money spent by SIGA board members.
Shoal Lake Chief Marcel Head says he’s tired of answering questions by citizens about why the SIGA board spends so much on per diems, travel and other expenses.
According to SIGA president Zane Hansen, the board recognizes the concern and is taking steps to reduce their annual spending.
He says the board intends to hold fewer meetings and is on track for an annual total of $535,000.
That’s down from over $900,000 last year.
