Cameco has signed an agreement with its partners at Cigar Lake which will lead to changes at its northern operations.
Under the arrangement, the McClean Lake mill will process and package all of the uranium from the Cigar Lake mine.
The original plan was to see part of the ore milled at Rabbit Lake.
Cameco spokesman Gord Struthers says the change was made for financial reasons, noting it will lead to about a 20% reduction in operating costs at the Cigar Lake operation.
Struthers says the Rabbit Lake mill will continue to process ore mined on the site and from other sources.
