An official with Saskatchewan Justice says there are no plans at this point to hold a public inquiry into the shooting death of a First Nations man five years ago.
Back on November 13th, 2006, Delbert Kenneth Pelletier died after being involved in a police standoff on the Muskowekewan First Nation.
An inquest was held into the death in 2009, but afterwards the family said it still had questions it wanted to see answered.
Judy Langford says the Ministry of Justice hasn’t had any recent contact with the family and that would need to happen first.
The Saskatchewan Coalition Against Racism says it wants to see a public inquiry held into the death.
Spokesman Bob Hughes says the inquest at the time did not nothing to change the processes that led up to the tragedy.
