A 52-year-old inmate has escaped from the Riverbend Institution near Prince Albert.
Joseph Nippi was discovered missing from the minimum security institution during last night’s count.
Angela Weber is the assistant warden of the institution.
She says Nippi was serving a three-year sentence for impaired driving and is not considered dangerous.
Weber adds Riverbend, which is located beside the Saskatchewan Penitentiary, is not a confined institution and moving in and out is done under light supervision.
However, the CSC and the institution say they plan a joint investigation into the circumstances surrounding this escape.
Nippi is 5’6″ tall, weighs 172 lbs. and has brown eyes, black hair and has tattoos on his hands.
Anyone spotting him is asked to call police.
