Northern Saskatchewan leaders met in Prince Albert today to discuss plans for a major fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan.
Vice-chiefs, mayors and health officials swapped stories of children and families they knew who had been forced to leave the province to seek badly-needed care.
Saskatchewan is one of only two provinces in the country that doesn’t have a children’s hospital.
Brynn Boback-Lane is the CEO of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan.
She says plans are being drawn up for construction of a children’s hospital in Saskatoon.
However, she wants all residents — especially northerners — to realize the facility will treat all children in the province, regardless of which community or reserve they come from.
She adds the foundation is seeking northern input and ideas so the hospital stay is pleasant for everyone.
Missinipi Broadcasting Corporation will be holding a radiothon on November 25th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to raise funds for the hospital.
