Nearly half the province’s schools are expected to take part in a provincial student election next week.
On November 3rd and 4th students in 334 schools will be voting for the provincial MLA they most want to see representing their region.
Schools from Black Lake, Buffalo Narrows, Pinehouse, La Ronge and Cumberland House are all taking part in the vote.
Katie Reidel is the chief of staff for Student Vote, the group putting on the event.
She says the whole point is to get youth more engaged in the political process and help them understand why voting matters.
She says there has been a lot of interest in the campaign from both Northern Saskatchewan and other Aboriginal schools.
She adds they also want to teach kids how the voting process works and where to find the information they need to make an informed choice.
