Okanese First Nation Chief Marie-Anne Day Walker-Pelletier says she is working to get her people off of welfare and into jobs.
Day Walker-Pelletier was recently acclaimed as chief for her 16th term in office.
She says she wants to develop partnerships with the business community and create employment experience and job opportunities for on-reserve members.
Day Walker-Pelletier has been the band’s chief since 1981.
