A vice-chief with the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations admits to being a little surprised about the wide margin of victory in Monday’s provincial election.

Morley Watson says he wasn’t exactly sure what the numbers would be before the vote, but it definitely has to be a bitter pill for the NDP to swallow.

“I don’t think we were exactly sure what the numbers would be, but again 49 seats to nine, kind of surprising.  I would think this is one of the worst situations anybody could be in to lose that many seats. ”

He adds it was also unfortunate to see so many aboriginal candidates lose out in the campaign, but he credits them for stepping forward.
