It was a tense situation on the Ahtahkakoop First Nation this afternoon after officers surrounded a home in the community.
Inside was Kimmie Randall Bear, one of two men wanted on a Canada wide warrant for allegedly causing a fatal house fire that claimed the lives of two people.
In the end Bear surrendered to officers peacefully.
RCMP spokesman Corporal Rob King says that leaves one suspect still unaccounted for:
“We still have one other suspect outstanding. We’re still looking for Karl Anthony Albert. He is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for the second-degree of two people and the attempted murder of a four year-old child.”
He adds officers remain on the reserve as part of the search.
The condition of the four year-old child who was rescued from the blaze still is not known.
A third suspect in the case has already made his first court appearance.
