A 38-year-old man from the Cowessess First Nation is in custody facing several charges after a series of incidents on the reserve early yesterday.
Police say a distraught man allegedly crashed his truck near the local golf course, causing the vehicle to start on fire.
The man was carrying a gun and firefighters say they thought they heard gunshots in the area while trying to put out the blaze.
A half hour later, the same man reportedly shot at the outside of a Cowessess home and went inside.
Police established a perimeter around the residence for seven hours, before a suspect was arrested without incident with the help of family members.
Hubert Cory Acoose is facing charges of careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm, and uttering threats.
Acoose has been remanded in custody and will be appearing in Broadview Provincial Court on Wednesday.
