Creating employment opportunities in southern Saskatchewan is behind the creation of a new partnership between the File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council, Graham Business Trust and Points Athabasca Contracting.
FHQ Developments president Edmund Bellegarde says the new entity — called Points Athabasca FHQ — will help community members from 11 First Nations communities gain access to the booming resource sector in southern Saskatchewan.
“We want to give careers and the ability to make a living to our membership. This is where all the growth is happening, and they wanted to expand into new markets. They had the respect to respect our traditional territories here in Treaty 4 and to come and talk to us about getting into business together . . . and how we could learn from their success.”
Bellegarde says the partnership took two years to create.
FHQ Developments was created last year.
Points Athabasca is a First Nations owner and operated partnership between Athabasca Basin Development and the Graham Group, and offers numerous general contracting services throughout the province.
