A major research project is scheduled to begin in Northern Saskatchewan this summer.
The Centre for Northern Governance and Development is trying to get a better sense of all the things that make up Northern Saskatchewan and contribute to its viability.
Dr. Heather Exner-Pirot says researchers want to look at everything including health, education, demographics, legal practices, cultural traditions, languages and more:
“And so we’ll know as much as you can know on a piece of paper about the state of people’s well-being, how much education they’re getting, what kind of living they’re making, what kind of Indigenous practices they’re retaining, what kind of languages they’re still speaking and all these things”
She adds they hope to have a final report in three years.
