The provincial government says it doesn’t intend to provide oversight for this year’s Metis Nation – Saskatchewan election.

It also won’t be providing any funding for the vote.

James Froh is an assistant deputy minister with the Ministry of First Nations and Metis Relations.

He explains they will be monitoring the election to see who is running and what happens — but that’s pretty much it:

“The government has not provided funds to the MN-S for this election.  But while we have no direct input or control over the election, we will be monitoring events as they unfold.”

This year’s MN-S election is scheduled for May 30th.
