The mayor of Creighton says his community still has a desire to hear more about what a nuclear waste repository could mean for the village.
Recently, Creighton and the English River First Nation moved onto the third stage of a consultation process with the Nuclear Waste Management Organization.
That group is looking for a community willing to accept Canada’s spent nuclear fuel rods and the lucrative contracts that come along with it.
Creighton mayor Bruce Fidler says, so far, the NWMO has done a good job answering questions many residents have about the opportunities and concerns associated with the project.
But he says a lot more questions still have to be answered before anything is decided.
Fidler adds while there is “a lot” of support and interest among locals, there is also some opposition.
