A 30-year-old man charged after a stabbing death in Stanley Mission last summer has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

James Michael Cook was arrested and charged following the death of 26-year-old Frederick Thomas McKenzie.

RCMP say the incident happened on August 3rd during an altercation between the two men.

The victim was pronounced dead at the local medical clinic.

Cook was originally charged with second-degree murder, but entered a guilty plea to the lesser charge.

He is due back in court next month when a date for a sentencing hearing is expected to be set.
