It looks like residents in Prince Albert will be boiling their water for the next few weeks.

City officials held a press conference this morning to update the status of repairs on the community’s aging water-treatment plant.

Last week a valve broke releasing some waste water into the river street reservoir.

City manager Robert Cotterill stresses tests have not found any bacterial problems with the city’s water supply and the quality is acceptable.

But they want to be safe, rather than sorry.

Meantime health officials say four cases of children with diarrhea have been reported but there is no evidence at this point to connect that to the water problem.

Residents are asked to boil their water for a minute before drinking it.

They also should use that water for brushing their teeth, and if they wash their dishes by hand they should put a capful of bleach into the water.
