Saskatchewan Environment is making plans for more projects as it continues the Boreal Watershed Initiative.
The five-year project was announced last year with the goal of assessing and maintaining the northern watersheds.
Saskatchewan Environment chief engineer Kevin McCullum says one program still being organized involves students in the La Loche area studying water and soil samples.
McCullum says other projects this year will involve tree ring analysis and examining otter carcasses supplied by trappers in the north.
He says fish chemistry, moose and cranberries are also being studied.
Groups involved in the initiative are Environment Canada, the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority, and the Universities of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
