The SIIT Foundation has received its first donation.

The Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan recently donated $750,000 for a computer-equipped study centre.

SIIT marketing and communications director Robert Daniels says there are now 22-hundred students attending the institute — 17% more than last year.

That includes students at campuses in Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert, as well as career centres and mobile labs.

Daniels says that growth is good for the provincial economy.

He notes SIIT also partnered with the private sector before the foundation was set up last fall, and the aircraft maintenance course is one example.
