A preliminary hearing has been set for three men accused of setting a fatal house fire on the Ahtahkakoop First Nation.

Twenty-four-year-old Kimmie Randall Bear, 21-year-old Carl Anthony Albert and 19-year-old Dominic Chase Ahenakew were each charged with two counts of second degree murder and one count of attempted murder for their alleged roles in the incident.

The bodies of William Ahenakew and Trez Sparvier-Scott were pulled out of a house on the reserve after flames broke out in late November.

The fire also sent a four-year-old girl to hospital with smoke inhalation.

The accused were eventually tracked down and arrested.

They will head back to the reserve on October 22nd for their preliminary hearing.

Bear and Albert remain in custody.

Ahenakew is currently on release.
