Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in a fatal collision last night on the Onion Lake Cree Nation.

RCMP say a pickup truck rolled on a grid road at around 10:40 p.m. — killing a 26-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman.

Both victims were from Oniion Lake.

Another female occupant was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

No names have been released.

Earlier in the evening, three people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a single vehicle rollover in a median on the Trans-Canada Highway near Chaplin.

RCMP say four of the occupants were ejected from their pickup truck — and the three people who died may not have been wearing their seatbelts.
