The Metis Nation-Saskatchewan has launched a new online resource for people researching their family history.
The searchable database is a project of the MN-S Genealogy and Archival Resource Centre.
It contains about 7,000 names from church, government and Hudson’s Bay Company records.
Genealogist Tammy Vallee says the information will be helpful to people applying for MN-S membership:
“And where we can, we’re trying to get the scans of birth certificates, marriage records or baptism records that are open within the public realm added to the website, as well, so that people can just download that information for their research.”
Vallee says there is no cost to access the database, which can be reached through a link found at the MN-S website.
