The province and the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations have announced the panelists for the Joint Task Force on Improving Education and Employment Outcomes for First Nations and Metis people.
The panel includes Cameco’s Gary Merasty, reseacher Rita Bouvier and Don Hoium of the League of Educational Administrators, Directors and Superintendents of Saskatchewan.
The joint task force will focus on several areas.
They include a child’s transition to school, increased high school and post-secondary completion rates and improved participation in the labour force and employment.
FSIN Vice Chief Simon Bird says the joint task force will give grassroots communities a voice.
The government says public consultations begin this spring and a report should be complete early next year.
