A company from Prince Albert has been fined $3,500 and ordered to pay $1,000 to the SaskTip Reward Program.

R-J-M Guiding and Outfitting was in Saskatoon Provincial Court his week and convicted of wasting game under the Provincial Wildlife Act.

Saskatchewan Environment officials say the carcasses of three dozen wild ducks and geese were found last fall in a wooded area near Warman.

Conservation officer Gary Provencher says there are options for hunters who harvest more game than they can use:

“We encourage them to give them away to, perhaps, local landowners or, in some cases, they have been given away to First Nations reserves in some areas — just so the meat can be used instead of wasted like this.  In Saskatoon, the wildlife federation there has a “Hunt For Hunger” program where the meat can be donated also.”

The offences came to light in September when a tip was received through the Turn In Poachers line.
