Police and conservation officers in Prince Albert were kept busy last night after a bear was spotted in the city.

Officials say calls about the bruin started coming in Tuesday morning, but the animal could not be located.

Then, at around 10:00 p.m., the bear was seen in the 500 block of 20th Street West.

The animal had climbed a tree and a conservation officer was called in to assist.

After assessing the situation, a decision was made to “dispatch” the animal in the interest of public safety.

Police are reminding members of the public to report wildlife sightings in the city, and to never approach any animal.
