A La Ronge couple has been fined $62,192 after pleading guilty to charges of tax evasion related to their restaurant.

Quang Minh Ly and Phung Ngu own Vickie Saigon Bistro.

The Canada Revenue Agency says that both individuals deliberately failed to report any customer sales paid by cash or cheque in 2006 and 2007.

The CRA says cash and cheque sales were not rung into the cash register and were deposited into separate bank accounts from the credit and debit card sales.

Court also heard that incomplete information was intentionally provided to the business’ bookkeeper and accountant.

It was also found that the GST applicable to the cash and cheque sales was intentionally not collected, reported, or remitted.
