Athabasca MLA Buckley Belanger took the floor Tuesday afternoon in the Saskatchewan Legislature.

The NDP critic carried out what is commonly referred to as a “filibuster”.

Belanger refused to cede the floor to the government and talked non-stop in an effort to delay the passage of a bill the Opposition disagrees with.

Bill C-36 is designed to establish three more MLAs in Saskatchewan.

However, the NDP disagrees with the way the process is being carried out, because the party says people under the age of 18 are not being included in the government count.
