Metis women who are hoping to learn more about their culture are being invited to join a new group in Regina.

The Wiichihiwayshinawn Foundation is the brainchild of Ashley Norton.

She launched the group in an effort to bring people together and promote positive ways of empowering Metis women while preserving culture and traditions.

The group has already held its first meeting and she is encouraged by the response they got.

Norton says they are moving forward with fundraisers and other events as they look for possible partnerships.

She feels there are a lot of gaps in service for Metis women and her group is trying to fill that need.
