The Saskatchewan government is contributing $700,000 to three tobacco reduction programs.
Over $248,000 is going to a partnership involving the Metis Nation – Saskatchewan, the University of Saskatchewan and the Saskatoon Health Region.
Another $250,000 has been set aside for the Northern Saskatchewan Tobacco Reduction Initiative.
The goal of that program is to reduce tobacco use among youth, pregnant women and young families in the north.
In additon, just over $203,000 is going to a smoke-free program involving the Battlefords Tribal Council Indian Health Services and the Prairie North Health Region.
